3ARABI
This book is a graphic exploration of digital photography representing the political conflict and tension in the country of Palestine. It takes the viewer through a psychological story through a series of photographs merged with graphic and geometric elements. The premise of this book is based heavily on the use of digital abstractions that invoke emotion in the viewer while creating a sense of symbolized individuality. The graphic content in this book were created using inDesign, Illustrator and Corel Painter.
My inspiration for this project is drawn from the sacred personal connection I have for the country that birthed and raised me, Palestine. The experience of growing up in an environment that is deemed more politically charged than “normal" offered me a unique route in my creative process to formulating this body of work. This book features illustrations I designed to represent several major Palestinian cities with the use of Arabic calligraphy letters paired with graphics and photographs I took. These visual pairings serve as a story of the Palestinian struggle and a showcase for the rich Palestinian culture. The handout provided with the book explains some of Arabic terms that may not be clearly understood by non-Arabic speakers.
